Heh, newb. I finished 5 Keys on my first day.
Wait until you get to 7 Keys, then V and Colors, then Hyper, then Another. Oh, GH is nothing compared to this game. You may feel some progression now, but you will progress slower, and s-l-o-w-e-r, and s--l--o--w--e--r, until about late Hyper/mid Another when you'll come to a freaking halt. This game is pretty much the reason that my GH scores only go up when someone pisses me off.
Oh yeah, about the Another difficulty: in 7 Key, it's the equivalent of GH's Expert (well, actually, about 50x harder). To unlock it, play every song in 5 Key and 7 Key modes. Doesn't matter if you fail the songs. Just play them. |

yeah, i finished five keys on my first day too, but i liked it because i could actually do it even the last few five key songs are hard. 7 keys is hard, and hyper is insane. this is the hardest rhythm game i've played*
*i guess that's not saying much because GH is the only other one i play. _________________

How much did BeatMania cost? I saw reviews for it, and it looked wicked fun, but I didn't give it too much thought. Is it really that fun? Or is it the refreshing breeze of getting your ass handed to you that makes it enjoyable? Now I'm debating whether to get it. _________________

does that mean ES and krim will square off at BeatMania instead of GH? the world is coming to an end. _________________

Thankfully not. There's already a clear answer for who the best IIDX player in the US is, and he will likely never be topped. _________________

I've just bought myself a IIDX controller (jap) and am going to get some games later tonight (the not so legal way). I've also bought a pop'n music mini controller and am playing that game as well. I'm desperate to see which one is the better of the two and there's only one way to find out :P
The beatmania controller looks a lot cooler than the pop'n music one though :p _________________

There are several players that might surpass RYRY in the near future (Jadin & Audity off the top of my head), and it doesn't seem right to just dismiss the possibility outright. |

Okay, there are players who are capable of surpassing Ryry if they continue their current progress as time goes on. Jadin would IMO be the most likely. To be fair, GOLD (BLEE), Audity, VGTA and CStar (and probably others I'm forgetting at the moment) might have the potential to be better than he was in the future if they continue playing.
"Was" is the problem. When you look at it chronologically, it kind of falls short. Ryry had 7th style AAAed within a few weeks of its release in May of '04 and had, as one example, the only Colors [a] AAA until CStar got it in early 2005, 8 months later.
For RED CS, CStar, Jadin and Audity have AA [a] AAAed; Jadin and Audity near the border, CStar with about 90.5%. If Ryry had continued to play on a regular basis, what kind of score do you think he would've had? I'd be willing to guess much higher than any of the 3.
It's tough to judge when people quit when they're on top. I'm still waiting to see who is next to full JG combo + border clear 5.1.1 though.
I spent WAY too long typing this post / researching dates and information. _________________
